Club Med Cherating BeachCherating Beach, Kuantan View On Map
We recently stayed at Club Med Cherating Beach Malaysia and the GF food provided for me was wonderful, the chefs and restaurant staff were all so helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them, they even provided me with a GF Birthday cake!! We will hopefully return again when the resort has been refurbished as the rooms were the only thing that let the resort down, great people great beach great food!!Recommended By: John Bursell On: 2014-09-13
Shangri-La's Tanjung Aru Resort
Kota Kinabalu, Borneo View On Map
As return guests to this hotel we did not think things could get better but they certainly did. Our welcome by the guest relations staff was warm and genuine and check in was a breeze. The rooms are well appointed with all amenities provided including fresh fruit daily, the rooms are spacious and clean, with plenty of storage. Around the hotel there are plenty of loungers in a variety of places so there is always one available somewhere, the beach is small but swimming is safe as there is a net enclosing the swimming area. The water park is amazing not only for children but adults as well, the water bucket is great fun for all ages. There are three bars, the Borneo lounge, coco Joes and the sunset bar and it is possible to get drinks at 2 for 1 somewhere most of the day. The group in the Borneo lounge in the evenings are excellent and will attempt to sing your requests! Also the afternoon pianist is very good. The breakfast buffet has something for every taste and features Japanese, Indian, Chinese and western food and the quality is excellent with attentive wait staff to give any assistance needed. Lunch is available if needed at all outlets and the Cafe Tatu has nightly buffet or A La Carte meals. A special mention is required here for those requiring special diets, Chef Joseph and his team are available to help with special requirements as he has some expertise in these matters. My wife is Coeliac which requires a Gluten free diet and she was well catered for with a wonderful variety of gluten free meals, especially some fantastic desserts dreamt up by Pastry Chef Kris, a great experience for a Coeliac. The only things we think could improve things are having the beach raked free of debris after high tide and service from Coco Joes to the beachside is very slow at times especially when there are staff briefings in the afternoons. Otherwise a fantastic family friendly hotel we could recommend to all travelers especially Coeliacs.

Terengganu, Redang island View On Map
Just returned from a fantastic stay at Redang Island, Laguna Redang Resort. We are a family of 4 living in Singapore, our daughter 7 was diagnosed coeliac 3 months ago. As an all inclusive we were unsure what to expect but having emailed in advance, and taking a bag of flour, every meal was cooked to request for our daughter at no extra cost. Chef Tahla Jalil cooked extra special dishes and took real pride in his work. Highly recommended.

Mk Ulu Melaka, Langkawi View On Map
We only spent 4 days at Fox Hill. It was meant to be just a stopover to break our journey from Australia to Europe. After experiencing the warm welcome from Maria Sharifah, family and staff and enjoying every minute of the 4 days, we wished we could have stayed much longer.
The wonderful Malay house on poles we stayed in was very comfortable, the resort beautiful, the swimming pool clean and fitting into the surroundings, the sunsets magical. Breakfasts, lunches and dinners were served at tables outside the main building. The food prepared by Tutih and the other girl (I forgot the name of) was delicious. I am a Coeliac and sensitive to onions, but they went out of their way to prepare wonderful sauces and other stuff for me, so I didn't feel left out at all. We were treated like family. Any problem we had, Maria would make it her own, be it a credit card that didn't work, a sore back or a packet that needed posting. She found solutions for everything. Full of knowledge and advice about Langkawi, tourist attractions, restaurants, shopping etc.
And you just knew and felt that all this wasn't 'put-on' hospitality but came straight from Maria's heart and that she inspired all those around her. Maria, you're a wonderful, spiritual woman, I will never forget.
Anybody that's looking for a informal, relaxing holiday, forget about all those huge 5 star hotels, get your 5 star accommodation and treatment at Fox Hill.

Nr. Petronas Towers, Kuala Lumpar View On Map
After many nights on hard Asian beds, mouldy bathrooms and tiled floors, this hotel feels very luxurious. We were very impressed with the facilities but the staff are exceptional! Nothing has been too much trouble. The best staff service that I have ever experienced.
For those interested in Gluten free eating, I asked at our free afternoon tea today whether they could cater GF. The staff were excellent and said that they would arrange some GF options for the next day. We had been lugging a packet of GF flour around so I asked whether it would be possible for the chef to make GF pancakes for breakfast. No problem!!
We decided that night we would try the buffet dinner at the hotel. Well, what a great dinner. I have never eaten at a buffet with so much choice. The pastry chef Alia had cooked fresh hot GF choc chip cookies and to finish off the meal she cooked a chocolate nut GF cake. All for $20 each. I would recommend Traders to any Coeliac who may be travelling to KL.

Red Tomato Garden Cafe
Pantai Cenang, Langkawi View On Map
The Red Tomato is located in the main beach tourist area of Langkawi. It is very eclectically decorated with a lovely German owner who has some experience with special needs diets.
My wife and daughter have coeliac disease and cannot eat gluten and this restaurant was a saviour.
It had a great (big) buckwheat pancake with ice cream and maple syrup, plus a smoked salmon salad. My wife also ordered a Mediterranean gluten free pasta. Like in Australia there was an additional cost for gluten free but it was worth it. The pasta was delicious. It was one of the best meals we have had in Malaysia
