The Naviti ResortCoral Coast, Viti Levu View On Map
We stayed at the Naviti Resort on the Coral Coast which is part of the Warwick Group of hotels, the Fijian people are so friendly & hospitable and love to feed you, so even a coeliac does not need to go hungry. The executive Chef Mohammed and his team are very knowledgable about GF and each mealtime was a very extensive buffet and I was advised each time which foods were GF, if there was a particular dish that I would like that wasn't GF the Chef would prepare it for me GF or an acceptable alternative. Mohammed soon became aware of the foods we prefered and Many times he would surprise us with something especially prepared by him from the kitchen before we had checked out the buffet.GF bread & muffins were available every day as were Pizza, burgers, toasted sandwiches. There is also the Talei restaurant which is has an international menu and also a designated GF menu, there is a Chinese restaurant the Bamboo terrace which we didn't try. We took the all inclusive package which if you plan to eat and drink at the resort most of the time is the best option. No request is a problem and the staff seemed to be able to anticipate your every need.
The resort is very family friendly, nothing immediately outside as with most Coral coast hotels so for a Coeliac a big plus to have so many GF options.
We will most certainly return to the Naviti!Recommended By: John Bursell On: 2015-08-30
Bedarra Beach Inn
Sigatoka, Viti Levu View On Map
If you have a need for gluten free, Bedarra is a good option as even breakfast (often the hardest meal to find away from home) can be catered for with prior warning (let them know when you book so they can order GF flour in). My husband enjoyed gluten free toast with his fruit (brought cereal from home as this is tricky to find) so we could all eat together easily and without hassle. If you are coeliac, you will understand the full implications of being able to order gluten free toast for breakfast, and if you are not, and you don't, relax secure in the knowledge that others in the dining area are jumping for joy for a good reason! There seemed to be a good understanding of gluten free food at Bedarra, and this was communicated well between our initial booking, kitchen and table staff. Onto other things - we loved having a ground floor room that was safe for young children and enjoyed the pool and lots of walks on the beach (like most places on the mainland, take beach shoes). Being close the the eco park was great and a perfect activity with young children. Room was great, pool was clean, meals generally well priced...
